I have always been fond of makeup. I would wear any makeup I could find and would often 'borrow' Mum's makeup and skincare products from a young age. While travelling on an OE and being based in London for 3 years, I knew I wanted to gain my Beauty Therapy qualifications, so I started saving for a Beauty Therapy course. Upon returning from overseas, I enrolled in a full-time Beauty Therapy course in January 2002 and graduated in December 2002.

After getting married and having my first child in 2003, I knew I wanted to work from home for the flexibility of my family. To keep my skills relevant while raising my children, I would work with my friends and family at home — offering waxing, tinting, massage and facials.

Then I found The Waxing Studio. It was an existing business I visited to treat myself to a wax. After talking to the owner about my qualifications and aspirations to own my own business, she mentioned she was selling hers. I purchased The Waxing Studio in 2008 to pursue my dream of being a self-employed Beauty Therapist — and was fortunate to take on her existing client base, enabling my income to start flowing immediately.

And here we are today! I'm so happy to be doing what I love, flexibly from home and around my family.
